Setting up TR-069 to manage Calix Endpoints

Recently one of our customers who’s got a large number of Calix E7 ONTs needed some help to automate some of the network management tasks to do with the CPEs.

We’d setup an TR-069 Auto Configuration Server (ACS) for the Calix RGs (The modems) so that we could manage the config parameters on the devices.

Setup was suprisingly easy, after installing some god-awful 90’s Java stuff to access Calix’s “CMS” we pointed everything at our ACS (Per screenshot below) and presto, a few thousand CPEs were there ready to be centrally managed.

  1. Hi,

We are currently in the process of converting 1k Calix CPEs to TR-069 and I was wondering if, during this project, you came across a way to globally set the ACS parameters in CPEs connected to Calix Cloud. If so, I’d appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks so much!

    1. G’day Mark,
We checked out Calix Cloud but ended up just using GenieACS as it was about $100k cheaper and actually better in a lot of the key ways we wanted to use it.
We just set the TR-069 parameters here and they started popping up on Geniue’s list of devices.
Not sure if that helps, but best of luck!
